Skyline Exhibits' New Occasions™ Table a Product of International Collaboration
Passion for Design is Shared Between Cultures ST. PAUL (October 9, 2009) -- When it comes to developing new products, Skyline Exhibits has formulated a recipe for success: teaming its own creative design team with designers half way around the world. "We're a global company," said Michael Vekich, Executive Chairman of Skyline Exhibits, "Collaborating with designers from another continent and culture gives us a broader perspective when creating products for a global market." For a recent project, Skyline partnered with S-Point Design, an award-winning industrial design studio in Shanghai, China. Even though worlds apart, the S-Point team worked in close tandem with Skyline designers, engineers and marketers stationed in Skyline's International Design Center near St. Paul, Minnesota. "The process is an incredible experience," said Curt Lindblom, Skyline's Director of Research, Design & Innovation (RD&I). "Each team brings their own unique perspective -- and their ideas reflect that. What really creates the magic, however, is how the teams respond to each other. The enhancements, refinements and design decisions made along the way, transform ideas into real solutions. Products are delivered to a level even greater than imagined." The latest result of this international effort is the Occasions™ custom modular table. It's a stylish table system with built-in storage, a variety of finishes or graphics, and a host of accessories. Best of all, it was designed to be lightweight, easy to set up and pack small. "Occasions is a great looking table," added Scott Roschi, Skyline's Creative Director. "It's going to be a nice addition to many of our exhibit designs. It's amazing that a table that packs so small can do so much." Occasions can be used as a single table or expanded to any length by connecting units. After receiving rave reviews in select European and Chinese test markets, Occasions is now available worldwide. "We expect Occasions to be very popular. It has a great look and is so portable that it's easily used in many applications. In addition to trade shows, we've had clients use Occasions tables as food sampling stations in grocery stores, as welcoming kiosks in lobbies and at college fairs on campus," said Lindblom. Prior to Occasions, Skyline and S-Point teamed to create the Myriad™ banner stand, which brings a degree of merchandising capability to an ultra-lightweight display system. "Every aspect of Myriad was designed for ease and elegance, from its base and accessories to its packing system," said Lindblom. As proof of Myriad's success, Skyline was awarded the prestigious 2009 China's Most Successful Design Award. Recent winners include Ford Motor Company, Samsung and Philips Mobile. Skyline was also honored earlier this year when its DesignView™ Presentation System earned a Buyers Choice Award for outstanding new product at EXHIBITOR2009. "Design is a universal language," stated Vekich. "Bringing these teams together on select projects has had impressive results." ___ Skyline Exhibits is North America's leading brand of exhibit systems.
